Hemostatic gelatin sponge
What is it? What is it made of? What is it used for?
A resorbable gelatin hemostatic sponge is a surgical hemostatic sponge made from high-purity gelatin material, used in many surgical procedures. When implanted into the body in the required amount, the sponge is completely absorbed within 3-4 weeks, leaving no traces and without encapsulation. When applied to bleeding mucosal surfaces, it liquefies within 2-5 days.
A resorbable gelatin hemostatic sponge is a sterile, pliable, water-insoluble gelatin sponge. It stops bleeding by contacting the bleeding surface. Gelatin hemostatic sponges are soluble, thermogenic, and biocompatible.
